Table Tennis Group 2007 Annual Report

The CYL Table Tennis Group is operated smoothly every year since 2002. Our activities are held on every Mondays and Fridays. The participation of the Table Tennis Group is open to the public. Thursday is held especially for the seniors. It is interesting and healthy to playing table tennis. All the Table Tennis players became CYL members during last year.

During 2007, although CYL Table Tennis Group did not organise the Moon Festival Table Tennis Competition, CYL Table Tennis Group co-ordinated with HuaSheng Table Tennis Association, The Australian Chinese Descendant and Mutual Association Table Tennis Group and The Cambodian Chinese Association Table Tennis Group decided to hold Australian Chinese Table Tennis Tournament. This competition will be held every year by one of the four Table Tennis Groups. The first Australian Chinese Table Tennis Tournament was held by HuaSheng Table Tennis Association. More than ten CYL players were invited to attend this competition. Meanwhile, CYL Table Tennis Group attended many social competitions. They welcomed us warmly and friendship was flourished through social games as well as in competitions. Because of these activities our players had gained a lot of experience and exposure such as skill enhancements.

CYL Table Tennis Group also held an internal selective trial for the first Australian Chinese Table Tennis Tournament. The competition was run smoothly and we could see that our players had shown improvements again.

All in all, in 2007 the membership of the Table Tennis Group is rather stable and comprises players including seniors, young players and students. It is good for CYL as this maintains good public relations with the Chinese community and promotes suitable sports for the youngs and the olds beyond 80+.
