CYL 2007 Office Administrator’s Annual Report
Office Staff
Stephanie Tse was CYL’s part-time Office Administrator since 2006. Since the start of year 2007, her hours had been increased to 5 days part-time due to increase workload from City of Sydney Cultural Grant Project. Ellis Lau and Rita Wong were retained as occasional event basis administration advisers and support to offer guidance and advice. Mr Yeung continued to be the casual care taker and cleaner of the CYL premises. Stephanie Tse resigned from the position in February 2008 and the position was filled by Ms. Crystal Wang.
Office Equipments
During 2007 the CYL membership system was updated by one of CYL’s advisers, Mr. Wee Teck TEO.
Website and Email
Our CYL’s website: www.cyl.org.au had been updated by Mr. Yoon Liow on a number of occasions and is up-to-date with the latest CYL news. Email addresses: office@cyl.org.au and chineseyouthleague@gmail.com were operated from the office.
Insurances
CYL had maintained all relevant insurance policies including workers compensation, glass and fire damage insurance and public liability insurance.
Club House Hall Hire & Use
CYL clubhouse hall is available for hiring. Activities took place by various community groups & CYL groups include the following:
- CYL Table Tennis Group (Monday & Friday for Public, Thursday for Seniors) 10am - 4:30pm,
- CYL Tai Chi Group (Every Tuesday 10:30am - 12:30pm)
- CYL Cantonese Opera Group (Tuesday – Thursday)
- CYL Lion Dance (Every Saturday night 5:30pm - 9pm)
- CYL Dragon Boat (Every Monday & Wednesday night 6pm - 8pm)
- CYL Cultural Dance Group (Every Saturday 1:30pm - 5:15pm from beginner to advance level)
- CYL Wushu Group (Every Saturday 12:30pm - 3:30pm from beginner to advance level)
- Yoga (Every Saturday 10:30 - 12:00)
- Australia China Friendship Society NSW Inc. meetings (2nd Wednesday a month 11am-1pm).
- Parkinson’s NSW Inc meetings (First Wednesday of the month, 11 am – 1pm).
The clubhouse reading room has been well maintained for members and friends to use. It also provided a display area for the photos of various CYL groups and some sponsors’ materials.
During the year, the premises suffered a few times of stormwater damage due to rainwater down pipe chokages as a result of rubbish from residents in the neighbouring high rising buildings. A roof clearing services has now been arranged to undertake regular maintenance.
Running of Events
The office had been the coordinating centre for a number of major events. They included:
- City of Sydney 2007 Chinese New Year Celebration;
- Market City Chinatown Chinese New Year 2007 Celebration;
- City of Sydney 2007 Chinese New Year Dragon Boat races at Darling Harbour:
- 2007 Market City Lion Dance & Martial Art Festival;
- CYL 68th Anniversary Luncheon
- Market City 2007 Moon Festival
- City of Sydney 2007 The Moon Festival celebrations at Chinese Garden Darling Harbour
- Art Gallery of New South Wales contemporary Chinese culture lecture entitled China Today: Arts and Cultural Lectures.
- The International Dragon Boat Federation 8th World Dragon Boat Racing Championships Open Ceremony
Stephanie Tse had been called upon to act as Master of Ceremonies on a number of occasions.
Records & Publications
The office kept the necessary records for the year. It also produced two issues of CYL Bulletins and developed various publications for the events in the year 2007.
